Accessing ATEN PDU WebGUI When An SSL Error Is Reported

It may be experienced that access to the WebGUI of an ATEN PDU such as the PE6108G or the PE8216G is restricted due to an SSL security error. The reason for this is that the PDUs on earlier firmwares use TLS 1.0 whereas many browsers have now been updated to use later versions which are more secure. The SSL error reported will be ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH.

To remove this error and gain access, it will be required to upgrade the firmware to the latest which allows TLS 1.2.

Firmware version 2.3.226 for example provides TLS 1.2 support for the PE6108G: https://www.aten.com/eu/en/supportcenter/downloads/?q=PE6108

To upgrade the firmware it will be required to run Internet Explorer or use Edge in Internet Explorer mode. Specifics detailed HERE. Once enabled, you must access the Internet Options in Windows and disable TLS versions above 1.0:

Once applied, download the latest firmware for your model of PDU, access the WebGUI via Internet Explorer and upgrade.

After firmware installation, you will be able to reset the Internet Options back to their previous settings and access the PDU in Chrome.
