2N Installation Guidance

2N Installation Guidelines

2N Intercoms and Access Units all have varying levels of IP rating and are simple to install, but certain considerations should be taken into account to ensure a good level of success and limit issues from water or bug ingress that would not be covered under the manufacturers warranty.

Mechanical Installation instructions will generally be found within the category of the product you are installing on wiki.2n.cz and will include further specific guides related to Surface or Flush mounting

Key points for all installs to consider before starting include:
  • A flat surface with less than +/- 0.5mm in surface variance, otherwise use a backplate (backplate for glass too). Any wall with a rough finish (stone, granite, etc) or deep grout lines, and we would recommend use of the backplate
  • Intercom flatly installed to the surface, with no twist or torsion forces imposed by an uneven installation
  • Modules sit perfectly into their housing, with no protrusion due to wiring or other obstruction preventing perfect seating of the module
  • All fixing screws should be used to fix each module into place
  • The foam gasket seal on the reverse of the frame should be perfectly intact before its application, including the plastic film coating the foam gasket
  • The frame should be securely seated and fastened snugly using the hex keys (although excessive force isn't required to overtighten the screws as this could risk rounding their heads.

Specific to the sealing of all holes, cable entries, and other mounts, frames, etc
  1. Neutral Cure Silicon is the ONLY type that should be used, standard acid cure sealants will off-gas Acetic acid during the curing process and this will damage the solder and traces on the PCB resulting in a failure which will NOT be covered under waranty. Acid cure silicon will also damage brickwork, metal housings and more if used - it must be avoided!
  2. Acid cure silicon in many cases will smell like vinegar when applied but this is not the only sign of the wrong silicon being used, be sure to check your chosen sealant carefully
  3. All entry holes in the mount should be sealed, with the exception of the marked/hatched areas below - these should NEVER have sealant applied on or over them
