Disabling Window 10 Auto-Updates


This article describes the process for turning off the auto-updates for both the Pro and Home versions of Windows 10.

Window 10 Pro


Open Group Policy Editor and head to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Updates.



Double-click "Configure Automatic Updates".  Select "Disabled" and hit OK.





Windows 10 Home


Open Registry Edit (Windows > Run > regedit), and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU.



Double-click NoAutoUpdate and change the Value data to 1, and hit OK.




If there is not already a value for "NoAutoUpdate", you'll need to create it by right-clicking in the white space in the pane on the right, going to New > DWORD (32-Bit) Value and then name the newly created value "NoAutoUpdate" (without the ")
